The Lawn Hotel ★★★

Hotel is not the one pictured. There is a sign on door indicating the Parkside Hotel - this is the hotel you end up staying in. You should change this photo to the Parkside.

The room was spacious with plenty of storage room and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was good. The reception staff were very helpful and when the key card didn’t work, they came to the room to check that it worked, after they had re-activated it.

We had problems with the key card. On two separate occasions we had to go back to reception because it didn’t work

Location of the hotel room was very quiet as requested.

The bathroom door was touching the floor and was hard to close. Extractor fan was very noisy.

I was put in the next door Hitel Parkside .. it has a lift and they thought it was quieter for me and my Whippet dog . Both hotels are undergoing renovation that is very clear .‘outside looks a bit of a mess . The rooms and the bed was very clean , liners over pillows and mattress . But it’s clear the renovation needs to carry on. The bathroom had obviously been scrubbed. But the bath was chipped and the shower head was fixed and a bit drippy . But everything worked .. TV was fine.‘everything was cleaned each day .. I was made very welcome as was my dog ! I could fetch breakfast and eat in my room . They insisted to clean up afterwards Tea coffee etc more than adequate .. for £75 a night inkl vollenglish breakfast and incl cost for the dog .. really good value ..

All was good, breakfast was ok, but something was missing, things like toast not toasted properly, little things, but over all stay was good

Massive car park welcomes you on arrival - a real bonus in a town where hotels charge to park. We were booked into the Lawn which seems smaller but stayed at the Parkside. We had a good sized room - the twin we booked became a single and a double. The wifi was excellent throughout the building and the streaming TV worked a treat. Breakfast was good but a little wierd as the offer was Full English or Vegetarian English with little choice although, as we'd booked at the Lawn that was included in the price - if I'd been asked to pay £13.50 each per night for the breakfast this review would have been very different. The bacon had been pre-cooked and kept warm and so dried and the sausages were cheap but the rest was good The beds were OK but nothing special

We were booked to stay at the Lawn but found a well hidden sign suggesting we should check in at the neighbouring Parkside. Checkin in lady was efficient but a little distant as were all the staff apart from the very friendly cleaners. The fixtures were tired - yellowing light over the bathroom mirror, silicone coming away from the joints. It seems to be impossible to get Decaff coffee in the building - neither the rooms or the restaurant offer it. The shower was good but there was nothing to explained how it worked so my lady, who likes a warm shower finished up with a cold one because she turned the knob the logical but incorrect way. I was suprised that the towels were renewed after the first night (even though we didn't need them to be) but the plastic "glasses" in the room weren't washed or replaced

We booked The Lawn Hotel but actually stayed next in the hotel next door Parkside International that I have stayed in a few years ago. It was clean and smart and the front desk team were lovely and helpful. It was a hot, muggy day in Reading and a chap on the front desk found us a fan which made us much more comfortable. Thank you..

In the morning I asked my Mum to get us a table in the restaurant. She was given menus with prices on she was told we had to pay for breakfast. I understood that I had paid for Bed and Breakfast in the price but rather than make a fuss we left. In hindsight of course, I should have shown my booking confirmation to the restaurant staff.

Hotel is a B and B style but with no staff on site as it’s connectef to another hotel at front where staff are , the place is like a maze and no disabled access at all

No staff on site have to walk to other hotel , no disabled access , mouldy milk in room couldn’t have a tea unless walked to other hotel

Original building is being renovated so all accommodation was in an adjacent building. Room was basic which was all I needed, Breakfast was good and staff friendly and efficient. Lots of parking.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Bar and dining areas are quite nice as was the included breakfast.

A bad element with some guests and their visitors very noisy into the very late hours and all We're smoking in the room below ours, talking loudly and urinating in the car park in view of rooms. Also, we were expecting to stay in the quaint older building pictured on the internet but this was misleading as it seemed uninhabitable. Instead, we were accommodated in the larger newer building next door. Our room on the western side was quite hot. There was also a domestic incident in one room requiring police attendance.

My stay at the Lawn Hotel was a very good experience with comfortable and clean room, excellent customer service and an ample choice at breakfast. The only small criticism is the lack of restaurant, though there is an adequate one close by.

Big comfy bed, decent breakfast which was ok but if it wasn't included in our price it would have been overpriced. Free parking. Fan included in the room which was good because it was boiling.

The lawn hotel itself was not in use we were actually staying in the Parkside hotel? This was confusing as we arrived at the wrong side of the hotel.

The room was clean and a good size.

Breakfast was a bit Fawlty Towers, with a waiter running in and out of the kitchen with a tea plate with 2-4 slices of toast, when there were around 50 people dining (every table was taken). There were pastries but we didn't see any, other than on some other people's plates, I suppose we could have asked. Bacon seemed boiled, rather than grilled or fried and beans were burned.

Nice comfortable bed and friendly staff that met every need of ours Hotel let us check in and out at time that suited us which was amazingly handy

The iron wasn't good at all it leaked water all over my shirt and as I was in a rush I had to just leave it and go to a wedding with shirt unironed

Staff very helpful especially as we wanted breakfast well before they normally serve it but they arranged a continental breakfast for us

Although a supposedly pet friendly hotel be aware pets not allowed in the lounge/dining area so although paid for breakfast did not get any. Not till booking out was delivery to room offered however room not really suitable to eat in. Unable to go for drink in evening. Reason given was because some people were allergic to animals!!!!! Why would someone allergic use a pet friendly hotel? No hot water in evening, bathroom very tired and in need of upgrading. Room very hot, fan full on throughout stay but still very warm.

A comfortable stay allowing plenty of time for relaxation over breakfast with an opportunity to sit in the lounge area. The bedroom was well appointed and always maintained by service staff.

Just one minor concern - the toilet flush did not really function needing several attempts to clear toilet waste.
